As displayed at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts during the 600 Years of Decorative Arts & Design, here is :

The Eames Storage Unit (ESU) 4X2, designed by Charles and Ray Eames in the 1940s, is a modular shelving system that combines functionality with aesthetic appeal. It is customizable with various shelves, cabinets, and drawers, and is made from plywood, metal, and wire. Its minimalist style fits seamlessly into modern interiors. The ESU exemplifies the Eameses' philosophy of "the best for the most for the least," making it a timeless classic in mid-century modern design. I bought this piece in France and flew it here. I’m the 2nd owner and I got the paperwork. This storage cabinet with doors and drawers is signed of course, 100% authentic and fully licensed product of Herman Miller Inc

About the Designer

Charles Eames (Charles Eames, Jr.) and Ray Eames (Ray-Bernice Eames) were influential American industrial designers known for their groundbreaking work through the Eames Office. Born in 1907, Charles studied architecture at Washington University before partnering with Robert Walsh in a prominent firm. His talent led to a fellowship at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, where he met Ray. Ray pursued fashion design and studied under Hans Hofmann and at Cranbrook.

Married in 1940, Charles and Ray gained international acclaim for their contributions to design, architecture, filmmaking, and furniture. They are celebrated for iconic designs like the Eames Lounge Chair and Eames Dining Chair. Their collaboration with Herman Miller began in the late 1940s with molded plywood chairs, including the iconic Eames Lounge Chair, now part of the Museum of Modern Art's collection.

Former Eames Office staff member Peter Pearce noted, "Charles’s work ethic and commitment to quality ensured everyone rose to their highest levels. His standards remain our aspirations." Charles and Ray Eames continue to inspire diverse fields, reflecting their enduring influence on creative and technological innovation.
