About the Designer

A true pioneer of space-conscious living, Poul Cadovius redefined how furniture interacts with architecture. In 1948, he introduced what would become his most enduring contribution the Royal System a revolutionary wall-mounted shelving concept that liberated interiors from the constraints of traditional, floor-bound cabinetry.

Cadovius believed that “most of us live on the bottom third of the cube” a philosophy that led him to explore vertical space with rare intelligence and restraint. His systems were not merely storage solutions, but architectural compositions: modular, scalable, and deeply intentional.

Working primarily with richly grained woods such as rosewood and teak, Cadovius’ designs embody the essence of Danish modernism where form, function, and materiality exist in perfect equilibrium. Each element, from floating shelves to seamlessly integrated cabinets, reflects a quiet sophistication that rewards the attentive eye.
